Music Ministries
“Above all sing spiritually. Have an eye to God in every word you sing…”
(from John Wesley’s “Directions for Singing” in Select Hymns, 1761.)
Great care is taken by our worship leaders to provide our congregation with opportunities to engage with the Divine through a variety of musical offerings in worship. Congregational singing of a diverse repertoire of hymns and songs is central to our corporate worship and is one way we remain connected to our Wesleyan heritage.
There are no auditions to participate in the music ministries of this church, and we welcome all who love music to join us in the joy of making music together. We strive for excellence in all our musical offerings so that we might glorify God together in worship.
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir leads the congregation in worship during our 11:15 am traditional service each Sunday, in addition to presenting a number of special programs throughout the year. Our repertoire is drawn from a wide range of periods, styles, languages, and cultures, with careful attention to how the texts we sing amplify or augment the liturgy of the day.
Rehearsals: Wednesdays 7:30-9:00 p.m. and Sundays 11:00 a.m. in the music suite.

Rehearsals: Thursdays, 6:30 - 8:00 pm and Sundays at 8:00 am in the Saint Mark Center (gym).

Gospel Choir
The Gospel According to Saint Mark Singers was formed by laypersons who love to sing modern gospel music, most of which is sung a cappella. They often sing during worship at Saint Mark and are often invited to sing at other venues in the Upstate.
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 5 - 6 pm in the music suite.

Over the years, our children and youth have been very active in our Saint Mark music program. The COVID pandemic curtailed these music ministries, but we look forward to future endeavors by both groups.
